Crack down on cracked heels

Say goodbye to cracked heels and put your best foot forward

Our feet work hard for us and get us from A to B, but many of us don’t give them the appreciation they deserve and end up with uncomfortable and unsightly cracked heels. This is caused by changing seasons and wearing open shoes or going barefoot, which exposes feet to the elements and environment.

Not only do cracked heels look horrible, they can also lead to pain and infection. Here’s how to keep your feet in peak condition so that they look, and perform at, their best:

Soak

Fill a tub or foot spa with water and give your feet a good soak to make sure they are soft and clean. This will loosen the tough skin on your heels, making it easier to treat. Use a foot soak, such as The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak, to help soothe and revive tired feet.

 

Scrub

When your feet are clean and the skin is soft, use a pumice stone or foot file, like the Basics Pumice Stone, to remove dead skin. Apply gentle pressure, slowly and in a circular motion, on problem areas such as the heels, the balls of your feet and the sides of your big toes.

Moisturise

After you have removed the hard skin, apply a rich balm like Oh So Heavenly Foot Spa Marine Minerals Foot Works Foot Cream. This will add much-needed moisture to your feet. This is best done before bedtime so that the cream can soak in thoroughly.

 

Peel

Exfoliating your feet too often can be a bit harsh on your skin. In between sessions, why not opt for a foot peel, such as the Skin Republic Foot Peel?
