Make a difference in the lives of intellectually disabled people by donating ‘gently used’ books, ornaments or any other household items
Dylan is severely intellectually disabled, so he’ll never be able to read a book. But he doesn’t really care about that. What he cares about is that he often eats only one meal a day – and that is the cooked meal he gets at the Oasis Day Centre. He also knows that he feels so much better when he has a full tummy because then that hollow ache goes away.
We all have good books we won’t read again. By donating just one book to Oasis, you will help us to give Dylan the nourishment and warmth he needs so badly.
At Oasis Day Centres we feed almost a hundred kids a day. They not only get nourishing meals, they also get developmental care. They don’t understand that the Oasis Books & Bric-a-Brac shops in Pinelands and Claremont sell donated products every month to support two Day Centres and six other Oasis Centres, but they DO enjoy the love and hot meal they get daily at Oasis.
Just like your book could be Dylan’s meal ticket, the old vase in your kitchen cupboard could be his bus ticket! Any unwanted household item could pay for Dylan’s seat in one of our specially adapted vehicles.
