Here’s how you can win the constant battle against one of the most common garden pests

Copper wire:

If snails are going after your pot plants, tie copper wire around the pots. The wire will give the snails a slight shock.

Beer:

  • Place containers of beer with smooth, steep sides among your plants. Snails cannot resist beer and will drown in it because they are unable to get out of the container.
  • Soak a piece of sacking in beer and place it flat on the ground among the plants. The snails will crawl under the sack at night to get to the beer. In the morning you can harvest them for your chickens.

Coffee:

Another thing snails really don’t like is caffeine. Many gardeners dump their used coffee grounds in their gardens as a preventative measure.
