What really causes these fine lines and what can you use to treat it?

Are smile lines caused by smiling?

Not entirely.

‘Smile lines are the result of age-related collagen loss, which causes cheeks to lose elasticity and sag, producing those telltale folds,’ says dermatologist Dr Ranella Hirsch. ‘But repeated muscle movements exaggerate them.’ A skin doctor can inject  hyaluronic-acid fillers to lift the cheek; or, for a quick, temporary fix, use a topical wrinkle filler.

TRY: Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate (R605), L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew (R199,95) or Olay Regenerist 30 Second Wrinkle Filler (R249,99).
