Cough Syrup

Fabric
1. Rinse in warm water to dilute the stain.
2. Mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of cool water.
3. Sponge the stain with the detergent/vinegar solution; tamp with a brush or spoon.
4. Flush with water.
5. Sponge with rubbing alcohol.
6. Pretreat with a prewash stain remover.
7. Launder, using chlorine bleach, if safe for the fabric.
 
Upholstery
1. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of cool water.
2. Sponge the stain with the detergent/vinegar solution; tamp with a brush or spoon.
3. Sponge with water; blot until the liquid is absorbed.
4. Sponge with rubbing alcohol; blot until the stain disappears or is no longer absorbed into the cloth.
5. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the rubbing alcohol.
6. If the stain remains, mix one teaspoon of oxygen or nonchlorine bleach with one tablespoon of water. Test in an inconspicuous spot to be sure the mixture is safe to use. Using an eye dropper, apply the bleach solution to the stain. Sponge immediately with water; blot until the liquid is absorbed.
7. Sponge again with the detergent/vinegar solution.
8. Sponge with cold water and blot dry.
 
Carpet
1. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water.
2. Sponge the stain with the detergent/vinegar solution; tamp with a brush or spoon.
3. Sponge with water; blot until the liquid is absorbed.
4. Sponge with rubbing alcohol; blot until the stain disappears or is no longer absorbed into the cloth.
5. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the rubbing alcohol.
6. If the stain remains, mix one teaspoon of oxygen or nonchlorine bleach with one tablespoon of water. Using an eye dropper, apply the bleach solution to the stain. Sponge immediately with water; blot until the liquid is absorbed.
7. Sponge again with the detergent/vinegar solution.
8. Sponge with cold water and blot dry.
