It’s never too early to start taking care of your heart


Why you might need a test

Heart tests can be very helpful in finding out what kind of heart problem you have and what treatment you need. These tests help doctors find out what’s causing symptoms, such as discomfort in your chest or shortness of breath.


Why an EKG? 

With this test, doctors check for abnormal changes in your heart during exercise, try to find the cause of unexplained chest pain, and make sure your heart is healthy enough for physical activity.

Why a blood test?

Your blood offers many clues about your heart health. For example, high levels of “bad” cholesterol in your blood can be a sign that you’re at increased risk of having a heart attack.



Protect your heart

Lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, stress, smoking and an unhealthy diet can lead to high blood pressure and cholesterol which subsequently may cause heart disease and heart attacks.


Four tips for keeping your heart healthy:

  1. Exercise regularly.
  2. Get good sleep.
  3. Take fish oil supplements.
  4. Reduce your stress.

Men vs Women

Heart attack symptoms in men and women can be very different. While men may have the classic central chest pain, women often confuse their chest pain with indigestion or heartburn.


Women may also experience:

  • anxiety;
  • shoulder pain;
  • sweating;
  • shortness of breath; and
  • nausea.
