Three foods to eat for whiter teeth

Whiten your teeth naturally by eating (and avoiding) the right foods

A bright, white smile can give you that confidence boost you need. Not everyone can afford to get their teeth whitened by a professional, but luckily there are a few natural ways to get pearly whites.

Crunchy fruit & veg

Fruits and vegetables that are high in fibre can serve as a DIY toothbrush. As you chew them they remove bacteria, which cause plaque and discolouration of the enamel.  Try apples or cauliflower.

Orange peel

Rub your teeth with orange peel (the white side) ever now and again. It’s a great natural way to get rid of stains.

Acid is what causes the enamel on your teeth to discolour, and eating cheese can neutralise the acid in your mouth.

Avoid these stain-causing foods and liquids:

  • coffee & tea
  • red wine
  • acidic foods and drinks (like sports or energy drinks)
  • soy sauce & tomato sauce
  • blueberries & blackberries
