Anyone that uses popular messaging app Whatsapp will be familiar with scrolling through conversations to find that one friend, or family member, who you really need to speak to. At the moment the app lists conversations from newest to oldest, so unless you speak to your inner circle every few minutes it’s unlikely they’ll stay at the top.
But the messaging service could be about to change all that for good by allowing you to pin conversations, making it a lot easier to find your favourites. Currently in the beta testing phase of development, Indy100 reports that it’s ‘likely to be added to both the iOS and Android versions fairly soon.’
So, how does it work? ‘To pin the chat, you need to long press on individual or group chat that will activate top bar menu with pin option,’ Business Standard explains. ‘Select pin symbol and your favourite chat will find its way always on the top. You can unpin the chats by following the same procedure in the app.’
We asked resident tech expert, Carrie-Ann Skinner, what her thoughts were on this new addition: ‘Being able to pin tweets to the top of your WhatsApp is a very handy feature’ she says. ‘There are many times when we see a message come through but don’t have time to read and reply to it.
‘By pinning the tweet to the top of the app screen, it will mean it might remind you to reply if you’d forgotten. Currently only available in Beta versions of the app, we hope WhatsApp roll it out to all users soon.’ Now the tricky part: deciding which friends are in your top three…
