6 Reasons Why you Need to be a Parent and Not a Buddy

While it’s great to have your kids see you as one of their tribe, children feel secure (and behave better) when they know who’s in charge

1. Friendship should be a subdivision of parenting and not a separate entity.

2. If you don’t act as though you’re in charge, your children won’t respect you.

3. Children can spot a fake easily. Be authentic.

4. If you’re not parenting them then who is?

5. There’s a line of authority between children and adults, and once you cross it, kids get confused – they will retest those boundaries.

6. Using your children as confidantes could place an unnecessary burden on them.
