It’s one of the greenest entertainment concepts in SA – a music festival where you can help restore Africa’s southernmost indigenous forest, near Hermanus in the Western Cape, back to its original abundance. Over the past three years, Greenpop’s annual Reforest Fest has led to the planting of over 8 000 trees; this year, Greenpop and Platbos Forest aim to double this figure by planting an additional 8 000 trees over two weekends.
At the Family Fest, Friday 9 May to Sunday 11 May, expect live music on Saturday evening (ending around 10.30pm), and days filled with educational activities, hula-hooping, forest walks, yoga, arts and crafts, interactive music sessions and instrument making.
The Friends Fest, Friday 16 to Sunday 18 May, has more of an upbeat, dancing, festival atmosphere: on Saturday night, a forest party with live music and soul-filled DJ sets will end at 2am or later.
Tickets cost R320 to R590 and include six delicious meals (Friday dinner to Sunday lunch), live music, tree planting, yoga classes, forest walks and more.
