Get more me-time

Put yourself on your priority list! Getting more time for yourself is easier than you might think

Try these time-saving tricks to get more time for yourself:

1. What: Stress Less

Money, health, children, work… There are thousands of things to worry about and one very good reason why you should stop: ‘Dwelling on problems excessively is unhealthy,’ says US psychology professor Sonja Lyubomirsky.

Over-thinking sends you spiralling into negativity and devours huge chunks of time. If you find yourself fretting, find an absorbing activity, she says. Catching up with the papers, listening to a new CD or ringing a friend will help get rid of the gloom.

Time saved: 2 hours 30 mins, for the typical woman!

2. What: Stop Yourself From Surfing

Ever sit down to send an e-mail, only to switch off two hours later after looking up old friends on Facebook or pinning countless images on Pinterest? Casual Internet surfing sucks time, so change your web browser to Firefox and download the LeechBlock tool (Google should find it) and use it to block specified websites. Or, try to limit the time you spend on these time-stealing websites.

Time Saved: 1 hour 30 mins
