1. Set the right example
‘If you want your children to understand the importance of helping others, you need to be hands-on,’ says charity organiser Joy Harn. Set the right example and volunteer with your kids.
2. Host a bake sale
Whip up treats with your children and send the money raised to a charity of your choice. Being part of the process from beginning to end will open your children’s eyes to the benefits and rewards of giving.
3. Encourage your kids
Support your children by helping them organise a clothes drive at school. They can ask fellow students to bring old (but still wearable) clothes to school and deliver them to an orphanage or children’s home.
