A Lady Cyclist’s Guide To Kashgar by Suzanne Joinson
In 1923 Evangeline English, her sister Lizzie and their leader Millicent leave England and travel across what is now Kyrgyzstan to establish a mission in Kashgar. Evangeline keeps a journal of their travels and the story unfolds through her eyes. In present-day London, Frieda, a modern-day traveller, returns from abroad to find a homeless Yemeni outside her flat. He departs the next morning, leaving a drawing of a long-tailed bird and a line of Arabic script. They later meet again and embark on an unlikely journey.
