Warships, wine and a colour run: there’s no need to be bored this weekend

Italian Warships in Cape Town

An Italian naval convoy – led by their flagship aircraft carrier, Cavour, which is travelling with exhibits of Italian goods – is visiting Cape Town for the first time as part of an African humanitarian tour, in partnership with Operation Smile South Africa. A host of demonstrations and charitable activities are planned for the duration of the fleet’s visit.

The Cavour will be docked at Portside Road in Cape Town Harbour’s Eastern Mole. Two of the fleet ships, the Bergamini and the Etna, will be docked at the V&A Waterfront’s Jetty 2. The Cavour will be open to the public until the 10th of February, from 10am to 6pm. Entry is free of charge though ID books are required in order to board. Please note: the vessels are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs.

WineStyle’s Summer Winedown

Taste the best of the best and rub shoulders with the wine professionals involved in creating your favourite wines at the gorgeous Tintswalo At Waterfall boutique hotel in Kyalami. Buy a few of your favourite bottles, grab a spot on the lawns, order some platters, picnic-style tapas or sushi and enjoy the live music with friends or family. Dress in your summer whites and bring your dancing shoes! It is a wine party, after all!

Doors are open from 5.30pm to 10pm on Friday 7 February and 12pm to 7pm on Saturday 8 February. Tickets are R120, and are available at Webtickets and at the door.

The FedGroup Colour Me Crazy

Due to the massive demand after events held in Joburg and Cape Town, Colour Me Crazy has decided to spread the colour tour to Bloemfontein, putting on the biggest and most colourful day of fun and craziness the ‘city of roses’ has ever experienced!

The event will consist of two parts: a 5km dress-up run packed with colour, followed by an epic music festival with even more colour and a fantastic line-up of DJs and music performances. Picture a kaleidoscope of colour, energy, dancing, music and fun, all in one massive event.

Both the run and festival start at 11am on Saturday 8 February at the Woodlands Conference and Function venue. Tickets are from R160 to R240 and are available from www.quicket.co.za. (Kids under six get in free.)
