They say when travelling all you need is an open mind and a sense of humour. Well, how about adding the joy of helping communities in need. Pack for a Purpose is a non-profit organisation that encourages travellers to take along a small quantity of supplies to support communities in over 50 participating destinations around the world. So, whether you’re travelling locally to the Twelve Apostles in Cape Town for some R&R, or for business to the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo, Japan, adding just 2kg (or more, if you like) to your luggage can make a huge difference to those in need. Each hotel supplies different communities in the area and their needs range from school stationery to toys and medical supplies.
How it works
Visit www.packforapurpose.org and click on your destination to find a participating hotel and for information on the kind of supplies the community needs. Once you arrive at your destination, leave your supplies at the front desk and staff will ensure your donation is delivered.
