Summer is still in full swing, which means fun makeup looks and bright, happy colours are the order of the season. But it also means sweat, which doesn’t always pair well with cosmetics and can cause makeup to slide off before you’ve even hit midday.

The struggle is real! Fortunately there are some surefire ways to ensure that your products go the distance. Here are three of them:

1. Use the right skincare
Before you even get to the makeup part, you need to make sure that your skin is properly prepped. This means using skincare products that are compatible with your skin type. If you have oily skin, having a skincare routine and using a primer that is designed to control excess sebum production will help to make sure that your cosmetics stay in place. Every step counts!
2. Consider your formula
These days there are so many different makeup formulas on the market, ranging from creams to powders and even mousses. While you might think that a liquid formula will be best to achieve a dewy finish, these formulas don’t always offer the most longevity, so opting for a long-wearing variety is preferable. You can fake the glow with your blush and highlighter application.

3. Set it correctly
The final step in making sure that your makeup lasts for as long as you do is to set it correctly once you have finished applying it. If you don’t seal in your foundation with a fine layer of powder or a good-quality setting spray, the makeup will melt once your skin starts to produce oil, resulting in shine or slipping. A slight dusting of powder over your nose, chin and T-zone should prevent this.
