5 surprising uses of wax paper

No, it’s not just for preventing cakes from sticking to the pan!

By Good Housekeeping

  1. Smoother ironing

Rub the iron plate with wax paper to help it glide more smoothly over clothing.

  1. Protect delicate fabrics

If you want to store a special piece of clothing – like a wedding dress – fold it in wax paper to keep light from damaging the item.

  1. Uncork bottles more easily

If you have a half-empty bottle of wine, wrap the cork in wax paper before storing or refrigerating the bottle to make it easier to uncork the second time round.

  1. Flatten meat and poultry

Place chicken breasts or veal cutlets between two sheets of wax paper before flattening it with a food hammer. It’ll help keep the meat in place and make cleaning-up easier.

  1. Prevent stains

To prevent spices and condiments from staining your kitchen cabinets, line the cabinet (or drawer) with wax paper to catch any spills. It’ll also work for medicine and toiletries in your bathroom cabinet.
