1. Nurture
No-one can serve from an empty vessel and no child can develop without the necessary nutrition. Help feed a child.
Visit www.feedachild.co.za or www.soschildrensvillage.co.za to help make a difference.
2. Educate
A sad reality is that some children won’t grow up with bedtime stories and being tucked in by a loving mother. You can help fund a child’s education.
Visit http://ikamvayouth.org/ to learn more.
3. Empower
Help empower our young girls through education so that they can develop into women who can contribute to the growth of our country.
Visit www.18Twenty8.co.za to learn how you can help empower young girls.
4. Clean out
Instead of complaining about the kids’ clutter, let them help you. Tackle their bedrooms and donate unwanted clothes, books and toys to children in need. Let your children be part of this.
You can take unwanted clothes and toys to any dedicated hospice or organisation in your area. Alternatively go to www.charitysa.co.za or http://sosvillages.org.za to find a charity or drop-off point in your area.
5. Read up.
Help by being clued-up on the needs in your own area. Know the origin of Youth Day and teach your child the principles of giving from a young age. With your knowledge, you can make a difference, however small.
