Try these clever tips and tricks and get the glowing complexion you’ve always wanted

By Maven Agency

The first step to achieving a healthy, glowing complexion is having a good skincare routine. Make sure you’re not skipping these steps.

 1. Get to know your skin

It’s important to know that what type of skin you have: oily, dry or combination. This will determine the type of products you need to be using and the cleansing routine you should follow. It’s best to keep trying different products until you find the one that makes your skin feel and look healthy.

2. Keep it clean

Wet your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips to apply the face wash. Clean your face by gently massaging the skin; never rub as this may irritate the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel. Remove your makeup before going to sleep.

3. Stay sun-savvy

Nothing ages the skin quicker than the sun. Opt for day creams that give you sun protection too and remember to wear it all year round. If you are going to be spending time outdoors you’ll need to reapply your sunscreen every few hours.

4. Be water-wise

Water plays a big role in the condition of your skin. It keeps it glowing, healthy and flushes out all the toxins. A skin that lacks sufficient water is prone to becoming dry, tight, flaky and dull. If you can’t manage the recommended daily amount (drink more if you’ve been active), start by keeping a bottle of water close at hand and take a few sips every now and then.

5. Stop touching your face

Ever woke up in the morning with a surprise blemish or rash on your face? As you go about your day, you touch things that you are sometimes not even aware of, picking up and spreading germs. Touching your face with unclean hands transfers these germs to your face and could lead to a break-outs, particularly if you are acne-prone.

6. Practice good, clean habits

How often do you wash your makeup brushes, disinfect your cellphone or change your sheets? These small changes can do a world of good for your skin and health. Makeup brushes collect dead skin cells, bacteria and oil, which can cause breakouts. Your foundation and concealer brushers need to cleaned daily. (Try to do it immediately after you’ve used them and leave them out dry so that they’re ready for the next time you need them.) The cleaner the brush, the better the product will be applied. Eye-shadow and blusher brushes need to be cleaned once a month. Make sure to give your phone a wipe down too.
