7 ways to layer like a style genius this winter

Look fabulous while keeping cosy

ways to layer

Winter is cold and it can be tempting to throw on a ton of different layers. The problem? It sometimes doesn’t look all that flattering. The solution? We’re about to show you. How to layer like a style genius:

1. Combine trousers with turtlenecks

Layering can very easily look frumpy. However, the combination of loose-fitting trousers with a tucked-in turtleneck creates a very flattering silhouette. This is a great first step to build on. Layer with coats, scarves or whatever you please.

2. Redefine monochrome

Play with shades. Often layering can get a little messy when you’re pairing up too many colours. Grey, white and black come in a lot more tones than you may think and are a great combination to have some fun with.

3. Try the chic over-the-shoulder trend

The biggest dilemma that we face in winter? Going from a frosty outside temperature to a heated and cosy inside one. The best layering tip we can give you here is to have your gorgeous coat hang gracefully over your shoulders. It’s classy, chic and on trend.

4. Embrace faux fur

Before we go any further, can we please reiterate the faux factor. The faux-fur trend is extremely popular and a poncho or coat trimmed with faux fur is the perfect winter-warming item this season.

5. Opt for denim

Let’s start with the basics, as it’s all about the foundation of your look before you start building on top of it. Denim is the perfect go-to option to do this with because it goes with everything. You can even be bold and have both a denim shirt and bottoms before you start to layer and accessorise.

6. Cinch the waist

In this case, belts are your best friend. You can throw on a whole lot of loose, comfy layers and still keep your shape by simply adding a belt to pull everything together at the waist.

7. Accessorise with a scarf

This one seems like a no-brainer, but just hear us out. Everything can tend to look a little baggy when layering. Having a slightly smaller, more delicate scarf with a gorgeous print or colour can really help finish off your look.
