Suffering from sensitive skin that regular skincare products seem to aggravate? You might want to look for cleansers, serums and moisturisers that contain cica – the latest beauty ingredient that is taking the world by storm.
Cica – it’s scientific name is Centella asiatica – is a leafy green herb that has been trusted for centuries to soothe and protect skin. It’s been popular in Korean skincare for a long time, as many people living in that country have sensitive skin. Now Western companies are also starting to jump on the bandwagon because they have seen just how effective an ingredient it is.

So what does it do? Cica helps to calm red, inflamed skin. Another thing that people love about it is that it can help to repair the damage caused by environmental factors, such as pollution and the sun’s rays. At the moment, most of the skincare brands that contain this popular ingredient can be found in K-Beauty products, but big cosmetics houses such as L’Oréal are rumoured to soon be following suit.
