Step-by-step video:

10 steps to make the frame:

  1. Cut both short edges of the 300mm plank at a 30-degree angle with the jigsaw. Then cut one of the edges of each of the longer planks at a 30-degree angle.
  2. Place this configuration together to form the triangle, with the angled edges creating a flat base. The top planks will eventually slide into one another, and the gap will be on the front of the one plank and from the back of the other plank.
  3. On the longer planks make 13mm and 15,5mm markers, which will be 70mm deep (one from the front and the other from the back of the plank). Cut the sides with the jigsaw and remove the piece with the 10mm chisel.
  4. Pour a cup (250ml) of sealer into a jar and add a few drops of the Woodoc Colours Brights in Blue to the sealer, then mix well.
  5. Mark 10cm from the bottom of the longer planks and mask them both. Sand the plank to remove any roughness before painting the first coat of blue. Leave to dry completely and give it a quick sanding before applying the second coat and leaving to dry.
  6. Mask the top section off above the gaps and paint only that section with a third coat of the Woodoc colour.
  7. Remove masking tape and sand any additional roughness.
  8. Before attaching the triangle planks with the panel pins, dribble wood glue on the edges and position the planks together.
  9. Use the hammer and steady little taps to fasten securely with the panel pins.
  10. Choose a good spot for your new shelf and place a little plant inside.

Useful tip:

Pilot holes can be drilled into the base to make it easier to fasten the sides with the panel pins.
