If there’s one pair of shoes that’s owning summer style, it’s a pair of pompom sandals. Who would have thought an art supply would turn out to be one of summer’s biggest trends yet? Nomadic pompom details are having a fashion field day – and with their fun and bold effect, what’s not to love?!
Seen on the runway, on celebs and all over our Pinterest feed, pompom sandals are definitely summer’s most playful shoe choice.
Put your DIY skills to the test and make your own pompom sandals:
What you Need:
1 tube of strong adhesive or craft glue
1 small packet of sequins
1 pair of sandals
fringing and pompoms (we used pompoms from Kidz-a-Peal for R17 a bag) in your favourite colours
The Process:
Step #1:
Carefully line the front strap of the sandal with the glue and add sequins for sparkle.

Step #2:
Glue your smaller pompoms on the side straps of the sandal and add diamantés in between the pompoms.

Step #3:
Add your statement feature: glue three larger pompoms, in a complementary shade, to the centre of the front toe strap.

Step #4:
Finish off your sandal with trendy tassels by gluing them onto the ends of the ties.

Step #5:
The final touch? Add more pompoms to the laces, just before the start of the tassels.

Step #6:
Repeat all steps on the other sandal. Now you can officially say you’ve created your very own pompom sandals (and shoe masterpiece) and are a DIY queen! #WatchOutSuzelle

And remember, you can personalise your sandals by adding your own touches. For instance, opt for knee-high gladiators or more simple sandals, and use monochrome pompoms or crazy colour!
End result? Happy feet!?
