Good old-fashioned bar soap is back to make you squeaky-clean

Smell ya later, shower gel!

In these modern times, most of us use shower gels and oils to get clean every day. Bar soaps are something that are considered a thing of the past and aren’t nearly as popular as they were in decades past. Not only do many people feel that they are not nearly as easy to use as gels, they also feel that they are a breeding ground for bacteria.

This may be true when it comes to those grimy slivers of soap you sometimes find in communal restrooms, but using your own in your personal shower doesn’t pose any risk. What bar soaps do offer, however, is a selection of gorgeous fragrances and a good dose of nostalgia. Here are some of our favourites that will get you good and sudsy.

1. Lush Serendipity Soap

Perfect for a pre-bedtime bath, this soap contains French lavender and calming camomile, which will help you to unwind and feel more relaxed, while also leaving you smelling fab.

2. Shea Moisture African Black Soap

The world is going crazy for African black soap, and for good reason. It has been used for centuries to treat various skin conditions, and is enriched with shea butter to leave skin soft and hydrated.

3. African Extracts Rooibos Loofah Soap

We know that our native rooibos tea is chock-full of beneficial skincare properties, and this one isn’t only made from the leaves, but also has a loofah inside to exfoliate your skin while you wash. Handy!

You might remember this one from your gran’s bathroom, and it really has stood the test of time. It not only has a wonderful woodsy fragrance, it also leaves skin luxuriously soft.
