If you have fragile, dry or damaged hair, it’s important to give your hair the right nourishment it needs in order to help repair and restore it from roots to tips.
Hormones, styling products, heat damage and everyday sun exposure all play a role in the condition of your hair. Shampooing and conditioning on its own doesn’t always give hair the intensive and deeply nourishing care it needs. Treatments and masks differ from ordinary conditioner in that the levels of the conditioning ingredients are increased. They contain a higher concentration of fatty acids and lipids, which help to restore moisture and protect hair. Of course, one hair mask doesn’t fit all hair types, so we’ve picked the right treatment for your hair type.
Colour-treated Hair
Colour-treated hair is more susceptible to dryness, damage and breakage. Choose a mask or treatment that hydrates and also protects the colour from fading.
Curly Hair
If you have curly hair, look for masks that control frizz and help with tangles.
Dry Hair
Dry or coarse hair needs nourishment and hydration. Products that contain oils will help to restore and revive dull hair.
Fine Hair
Lightweight masks are a great choice for fine hair, as you mustn’t weigh this type of hair down. Fine hair is often brittle, so choose a mask that strengthens your hair from the inside.
Tips when applying masks and treatments:
1. Masks and treatments should be used once a week to ensure that you’re giving your hair the moisture it needs.
2. It’s always best to apply these to dry hair unless otherwise stipulated, and allow the product to absorb for about 20 minutes.
3. Comb through your mask with a wide-toothed comb when applying it to ensure it’s distributed evenly.
4. Try to concentrate on the ends of your hair, as these usually need the most nourishment.
