Step 1: Prepare your skin
For a flawless finish you need to begin with a clean canvas. Wash your face and gently pat dry with a towel. Follow with toner (to minimise pores) and your moisturiser (we love Neutrogena’s Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturiser R84,95)

Step 2: Prime
BB Creams are a multi-use product, a combination of moisturiser, primer, foundation and sunscreen (read more in our upcoming September issue feature). Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream comes in 5 tints, creates a great base for the rest of your make up and has an SPF35 (R410).

Step 3: Conceal
Cover up spots and redness with concealer first. This will save you from using too much foundation. Concealer is your best bet for minimizing tired-looking eyes. Blend two or three dots underneath and a dot on the outer corner of each eye.
Step 4: Foundation
When applying your base remember to use as little as possible first and add from there as too-thick foundation can look cakey and unnatural. Opinions differ on whether to use a sponge, a brush or your finger, we suggest to use whatever you find easiest. Apply in the direction of the hairs on your face (downwards and away from the centre).
Step 5: Set it
Make sure your foundation is blended well, especially along the jawline. Now set your look in place with a powder, we recommend a translucent one as it won’t alter the colour of your foundation. Use a thick make up brush to lightly sweep over your face, leaving your skin beautifully even and ready for the rest of your make up.
