Ah, glitter. That sparkly substance that we use in arts and crafts projects as children and then progress to wearing on our nails and faces as young adults. Many women think that when you get older you have to resign yourself to a shimmer-free life, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. You can wear glitter at any age, as long as you do it right. Eyes
The experimental makeup gurus on social media have been going all out with eye glitter lately, even extending it beyond the corners of the eyes, on to the upper cheeks and even under the eyes. Don’t do this! Instead, use a powder eye shadow that has small shards of glitter in it and use it on top of your darker shades into the centre of your eyelid. This will give a subtle pop of shimmer. Alternatively, invest in a glitter liquid liner and do a sparkly take on winged liner. It looks sophisticated while still being bang on trend.

Lips
When adding glitter to lips, we advise that you proceed with caution. That’s not to say it shouldn’t be done, though. A light dusting of fine red glitter over red lips can add dimension to your look. For something more subtle that still makes an impact, get yourself a lip gloss that contains glitter particles and forgo the lipstick completely. And, despite how much you may love to sparkle, choose to add glitter to either your eyes or lips rather than both at the same time. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing!

Nails
The easiest way to incorporate glitter into your beauty routine is to add it to your nails. This is a less in-your-face approach and is a good way to dip your toe in the proverbial water. Here you can really decide how ‘all out’ you want to go. Whether it’s glitter on all your nails or only on one accent nail, the choice is all yours. Go forth and shine!
