While the regular variety is generally made from materials such as fibres and papers, hydrogel masks – as the name suggests – are usually made using bio-cellulose or polymers. These masks are more slippery in texture, which can make it tricky to apply them at first, but once you have got the hang of it, you’ll find that they adhere to the face better, making the 15 to 20 minutes you’re wearing one a lot more comfortable.
