Kate Middleton’s most relatable mom moments

The Duchess has the same mom struggles as the rest of us

Kate Middleton

While the Duchess of Cambridge is essentially living a fairy tale (she’s married to a prince and gets to wear dreamy designer clothes), at the end of the day she’s still just a normal mom to her three little ones, George (6), Charlotte (4) and Louis (1). In honour of the Duchess’s 38th birthday we’ve rounded up Kate Middleton’s most relatable mom moments

1. Wiping Prince George’s drool on her designer dress

While on a royal visit to Australia and New Zealand in 2014 the royal couple took little Prince George to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. The young prince was so excited he started to dribble, and mom Kate was quick to wipe it with her hands and then, to the surprise of the watching press, directly onto her beautiful yellow dress.

2. Doing her own grocery shopping

While this isn’t something we’ve seen often, Kate has been spotted doing her own grocery shopping in the past. We love the relatable Duchess heading to the store in a turtleneck to stock up on groceries for her family, just like the rest of us.

3. Comforting Princess Charlotte on the Buckingham Palace balcony

During the 2018 Trooping of the Colours ceremony the royal family assembled on the palace balcony to watch the flyby and procession. Charlotte, who was three years old at the time, lost her footing and slipped, but Kate was quick to scoop her up and comfort her before she could start crying.

The sweet moment reminded us of the time Kate comforted a three-year-old Prince George, who was upset by the loud noises at the 2016 Royal International Air Tattoo air show.

4. Running after her children in public

While watching Prince William participate in a charity polo event, Kate tried hard to keep her two oldest kids busy, but when the energetic duo took off she had to hilariously run after them.

5. Scolding George and Charlotte at Pippa’s wedding

While serving as a page boy and flower girl at their aunt Pippa’s wedding in 2017, Prince George and Princess Charlotte acted out (reportedly stepping on the train of the wedding dress). Mom Kate was quick to step in and scold them, with little George even shedding a tear afterwards.

6. Trying to control Charlotte’s public tantrum

Children often choose the worst times to have a bit of a meltdown (public tantrums are the worst) and little Charlotte was no different when she caused a fuss while in front of the press on a trip to Germany. Kate swooped in to control the situation and prevented a full blowout.

7. Doing the morning school run

While most mothers don’t have the eyes of the world on them when they drop their little ones off for their first day of school, Kate was super-relatable when she walked Charlotte in on her first day and had a few words with her teacher.

8. Making funny faces to entertain Prince Louis

We haven’t seen a ton of public appearances by little Prince Louis yet, but the brief glimpses we’ve had have been adorable, like the time Kate kept her youngest entertained at a polo event with a host of funny faces, and even let him wear her sunglasses.
