The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have stepped out for their inaugural charity sailing race, The King’s Cup, at Cowes on the Isle of Wight yesterday (8 August).
The royals have chosen cute matching outfits for the regatta, as they prepare to go head-to-head skippering two yachts.
Both Will and Kate were photographed wearing coordinating white polo shirts and navy shorts, paired with simple trainers. The duchess, in particular, was looking tanned, following the royals’ summer break.
The couple were all smiles as they posed for photos on the beach alongside their celebrity competition in today’s race, including adventurer Bear Grylls, comedian John Bishop and and Olympic rower Helen Glover.
As the race got underway, Kate donned a sporty waterproof jacket and blue cap, with her dark hair worn up in a ponytail.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – who launched The King’s Cup at the Cutty Sark back in May – hope the race will become an annual event, raising money and support for eight of their royal patronages.
This year, Kate will be racing for The Early Years programme delivered by The Royal Foundation, while Prince William is competing on behalf of Child Bereavement UK.

The race kicked off this afternoon, after a last-minute change. Originally scheduled for today (9 August), bad weather conditions forced Will and Kate to re-organise their race at the last minute.
