Get your cholesterol and glucose levels, and your blood pressure checked regularly. It could save your life!

1. Reducing your body weight by 5% can lower both your cholesterol and blood-pressure levels.

2. An estimated 11 million South Africans are living with hypertension.

3. 13 MILLION

That’s the number of times a healthy heart beats per year! The lower your heart rate (45 to 50 beats per minute is ideal), the healthier your heart is. Keep it healthy with regular exercise.

4. Three out of four people don’t even know they suffer from hypertension.

5. The recommended healthy waistline for women is 80cm. The wider your waistline, the bigger your risk for heart disease.

6. South Africans consume up to three times the recommended daily salt allowance. The World Health Organization recommends 5g of salt a day; South Africans consume 10g to 15g.
