To swim your way slim, try this fancy footwork from exercise physiologist Richard Cotton of the American College of Sports Medicine. As you do a freestyle stroke with your right arm, kick your feet three times; then do the same with your left-arm stroke. Swimmers usually kick only one to two times per stroke, but by kicking it up a notch this way, you could increase your burn by about 38%*. (That amounts to about 550kJ instead of 400kJ for just 10 minutes, or 1 650kJ instead of 1 200kJ for half an hour.) Cool!
