Netflix’s first African original series, Queen Sono, premiered last night, and celebrities came out in droves to celebrate with the cast and crew.

Starring Pearl Thusi, the series follows Queen Sono, a highly trained spy in a South African agency taking on her most dangerous mission yet while facing changing relationships in her personal life and uncovering the truth about her mother’s past. The show has only just started streaming, but it’s set to be a hit, according to early reviews.

To celebrate the premiere of the groundbreaking series, we’ve rounded up all our favourite looks from the Queen Sono red carpet.

Actress Chi Mhende stood out with a one-shouldered gown that boasted stunning ruffles.

Enhle Mbali turned heads in a beautiful minidress with beautiful beaded details and daring cutouts. 

Abigail Kubeka

Legendary singer and actress Abigail Kubeka looked glam in a dramatic black and white number. 

Sho Madjozi 

Rapper Sho Madjozi stood out with her trademark braids, which were a fun pink for the special occasion.

Basetsana Kumalo

TV personality and businesswoman Bassie Kumalo looked chic in a sparkly black number. 

Nambitha Ben-Mazwi

Actress Nambitha Ben-Mazwi wore a powder-blue number with a dramatic train.

Kim Jayde
