Plastic bags seem to multiply like wire hangers in a cupboard. You save them under the kitchen sink and vow to take them with you the next time you go shopping, but you don’t always remember. Here are four smart ways to reuse them:
- To avoid your wet umbrella dripping all over your house or office on a rainy day, pop it in a plastic bag once inside. Now you can even put it back in your handbag, unless you have a very large umbrella.
- Use them as gloves to pick up the little ‘presents’ your dog leaves on the lawn. Turn them inside out for easy disposal. Pop one in your pocket every time you take your pet for a walk.
- Need to kneel on the ground to change a flat tyre or pull weeds in your garden? Don’t spoil your pants; take two plastic bags and wrap one around each knee, tying the handles at the back.
- Crumple a couple of bags and fill a pot that’s too deep for your plant. Be sure not to cover the drainage hole.
