Smooth moves

Salon treatments

For many women, frizzy hair is a major concern and requires a lot of effort, and styling tools, to try to tame. Fortunately, these days there are a selection of treatments provided by salons that can help to keep hair silky and smooth. Here are three we recommend.

1. Keratherapy Keratin Smoothing Treatment

The Brazilian blowout has been popular since it first reached South African shores, and it has been a godsend for frizzy-haired women all over the country. The Brazilian Renewal range from Keratherapy gives the greatest amount of curl reduction – about 90% – and is easier on the chemicals than some of their competitors are. It keeps locks smooth and sleek for up to four months and can also help to smoothen damaged ends. Another plus is that your hair won’t frizz in humid weather, making it the perfect summer investment.

2. Inoar G.Hair B-Tox Treatment

One of the newest in innovative hair treatments to treat frizz is a B-Tox treatment, otherwise known as hair Botox. This is a quick and easy procedure, as the treatment only has to sit on the hair (under a layer of clingfilm) for 30 minutes. While other treatments, like the Brazilian blowout, take the curl out of the hair so that it’s dead straight, hair Botox leaves the natural kinks but drastically reduces the amount of frizz, so it’s still your hair, only better! It lasts for four to six weeks if you are using sulphate-free haircare products.

3. Mycro Keratin Salon Treatment

This treatment is one that is becoming increasingly popular among those who like the Brazilian blowout but want something that is gentler on their tresses. There is no formaldehyde in micro keratin, which already makes it a healthier option, and the keratin particle is a lot smaller than it is in other treatments, which means it can penetrate hair more effectively. If looked after properly, hair can remain smooth and frizz-free anywhere between three and six months, making it great for people who are looking for sleekness without the commitment.
