When it comes to cosmetic procedures, most of them, such as fillers and Botox, focus on the face. Sometimes people address sagging skin around the neck, but one area that people tend to forget about – which can be a dead giveaway as to your age – are the ear lobes. This has given rise to a new procedure that is gaining traction in the anti-ageing industry: ear fillers, or eartox.

As we age, our nose and ear lobes continue to grow ever so slightly. This means that as you get older, your lobes can become more noticeable. Combine their increasing size with years of wearing heavy earrings and the natural ageing process, and your ear lobes could start to look a touch saggy. That’s where this treatment, known formally as ear-lobe rejuvenation, comes in. It involves a syringe of derma-fillers, generally containing hyaluronic acid, being injected into the lobes, and delivers instant results.

So while our bodies might not continue to produce enough collagen to retain the plump, pretty ear lobes of our youth, this procedure can help. It generally takes about 10 minutes and the pain is minimal and tolerable. To maintain this look will require top-ups every six months, but for many it’s worth it, as they claim it takes 20 years off their ears. Sure, it may not be immediately noticeable, but it’s all about attention to detail and can definitely give those who are self-conscious a much-needed confidence boost and have them grinning from one plump ear to the other.
