The bow is the hair trend that is going to rule this summer

Just in case you thought that scrunchies were the only retro hair trend that would be making a comeback, you’d be wrong. Bows are popping up everywhere and we predict that they are going to be the hair accessory to dominate the summer. One Instagram search confirmed our suspicions, so we are already planning our summer hairstyles around ribbons.

The best thing about this hair trend is how versatile it is. Bows can be worn as a single ribbon or as a few to create a bubble ponytail, and can add an extra something to an outfit, as was demonstrated by Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown at the SAG Awards earlier this year. In fact, her bows got more attention than her outfit!

It seems as though this year is all about modern takes on trends that were mainstream in the ’80s and ’90s, both when it comes to clothing and hair trends. Bows are being seen everywhere from the red carpet to the streets, and they are an easy way to take your ponytail from drab to fab. There are also plenty of materials to choose from, including luxe velvet fabric and even glitter finishes, and countless ways to wear them, whether it be in a chic low ponytail, a high preppy one or even just as a clip to give a loose-hair look something extra.
