As for details, the new Duchess of Sussex wore her hair tied back in a low-bridal bun and the veil was fixed on with a diamond bandeau tiara.

Queen Mary was gifted the brooch – which is in the centre part of the tiara and features a whopping ten diamonds – in 1893 on her marriage to Prince George, Duke of York who later became King George V. Years later, in 1932, the diamond and platinum bandeau was specifically made in order to accommodate the brooch.

The bandeau has eleven sections, featuring interlaced ovals and pavé along with large and small brilliant diamonds. Queen Mary officially bequeathed the tiara to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Other pieces of Markle’s jewellery, including the earrings and bracelet, were made by the designers Cartier.
