Heading to that part of the world at that time, the newlywed’s trip will coincide with the fourth Invictus Games, which is being held in Sydney from 20 – 27 October 2018. After tying the knot in May, this will be the couple’s first official royal tour since getting married. The news comes just after the pair were seen at the Trooping the Colour event on Saturday 11 June.
They are visiting Australia and New Zealand by invitation of the countries’ governments, while they will travel to Fiji and Tonga at the request of the UK Foreign Office, the BBC has reported. Both Prince Harry’s parents and brother and sister-in-law have both undertaken official visits Down Under: Princes Charles and Princess Diana in 1983 (who spent 41 days abroad), and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2014. Both couples have posed in front of the iconic Ayers Rock, so will the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do the same?
This won’t be the first Invictus Games the couple have attended together however. The couple debuted their relationship at Toronto’s games last year, where they were spotted walking hand-in-hand to watch a tennis match.
The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel to take part in from wheelchair basketball to indoor rowing.
