It’s no secret that the fashion industry is severely lacking in body inclusivity.
If you flip through basically any magazine, it’s rare to see anyone outside of a very limited scope of what society has deemed beautiful. But it’s a tremendous disservice to the majority of the population to imply that only one type of woman is “acceptable.” Women come in all shapes and sizes, and the world would only benefit from better representation and celebration of that variety.
In a recent video, Buzzfeed decided to tackle fashion’s major body diversity problem by having plus-size women recreate high-fashion ads — and the results are absolutely stunning. Not only do all of the women absolutely kill it at recreating the ads, but each also proves how empowering and important it is that we acknowledge women of all sizes are beautiful.
“Representation is important, because every person has the right to feel beautiful without some dumbass internet doctor chiming in with some ‘advice,'” Sheridan, one of the models, said of the experience. “Each body is special — if you feel great, that’s all that matters.”
