How To Wear A Scarf In Summer

How to wear a scarf during the shoulder season

By Clare Robertson

Change of season is always tricky – while the weather might look sunny, there might be a sneaky breeze. So how do you decide what to wear? One of the keys to an adaptable outfit perfect for those in-between days is a scarf. Although it may not be a typical spring/summer accessory, there are various kinds of scarves that are light and breathable, providing the perfect amount of warmth and comfort, as well as style.

Scarves can be worn with just about any outfit, either dressed down or up. Here are our top ways to wear a scarf this summer.

  1. The bolo necktie. This is probably the most common way to wear the silk scarf. It’s a classic and super-chic way to keep your neck protected from summer breezes.

2. Reversing the above style creates the ‘back-to-front knot’, adding an unusual edge to any outfit. It gives the effect of a thick choker while not clashing with the neckline of the outfit.

3. The scarf belt. This is perfect for updating a pair of classic denims, giving a summery feel.

4. The bandanna. A Western-inspired bandanna is a casual and effortless way to rock this trend. Simply tie a bandanna around your neck and forget the fuss of having to create the perfectly stylish side knot.

5. The waist cincher. If your style icon is Audrey Hepburn, this one is for you. A glam way to accessorise using a silk scarf, while creating a perfect hour-glass shape.

7. For those feeling adventurous, try something completely different with the ankle scarf.
