Why is face toner so important?

It deserves a place in your skincare routine

By Helen Wallace

face toner

Thought that toner was simply a gimmick created by skincare brands to sell more of their products? Think again! This water-like liquid actually plays an important role in our skincare routine and, if it’s not something you are using already, you should definitely consider doing so.

What is toner?

Toner is the final step in the facial-cleansing process and it should be applied before your moisturiser. Why? Even the best face washes aren’t able to get rid of all the grime and dirt that build up on our face throughout the day, and using toner is a way to swipe away what’s left behind after you cleanse.

Its other important functions are restoring hydration as well as balancing the skin’s pH levels, which is important for the health of your skin. It can either be applied using cotton wool if you have normal skin or patted on if your skin is drier and needs more hydration. However you choose to use it, use it you should!
