Since welcoming her first child back in September 2017, Serena Williams has become an inspiration for mothers across the globe courtesy of her candid Instagram posts and empowering messages to other women.
But who does the tennis champion look to for inspiration?
In a recent interview with InStyle magazine, the 36-year-old revealed her list of female muses which included the usual suspects, Beyoncé and Rihanna. But in a surprising move, she also gave a shout-out to the Duchess of Cambridge.
Williams says she was stunned to see the duchess make her post-birth debut on the Lindo Wing steps on 23 April, just hours after welcoming her third child, Prince Louis.
“She was . . . standing!” Williams exclaimed. “So, she’s officially number one.”

But it’s not the first time that the tennis ace has spoken highly of the royal, as she described the Duchess of Cambridge as “one heck of a woman” during an interview with Popsugar back in April.
“I was really busy, but I saw the baby, and Kate was dressed, and I was like, ‘Oh, maybe she had him a couple days ago,'” Williams told the magazine. “That’s one heck of a woman! Let me tell you: I was not in heels [after I gave birth]. I thought she gave birth maybe two days before! Wow.”
